Fremont Street is Downtown, not the Strip

Fremont Street Experience is a pedestrian area in Downtown Las Vegas. It is a separate trip from the resort corridor on Las Vegas Boulevard, so plan the transfer. The Monorail does not stop here, and the Deuce bus connects Downtown, the Strip and the South Strip Transit Terminal.

The main draw is the overhead LED screen called The Canopy, formerly known as Viva Vision. Its regular light and music program is free. The SlotZilla zipline and special events are separate and may cost extra.

Getting there from the Strip

The Deuce is the straightforward public option.

The Deuce bus runs between Downtown, the Strip and the South Strip Transit Terminal. It also serves the Welcome to Las Vegas sign at the south end of the Boulevard. Service runs 24 hours a day, about every 10 to 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. and about every 20 minutes between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. The timetable gives the frequency, not the ride time, so allow plenty of time, especially if you want to catch a Music Reels show or a late zipline ride.

The Monorail does not run to Downtown. Its stations run from MGM Grand to SAHARA, so a Monorail ride gets you only part of the way. If you drive, use the garage at 4th and Carson.

Is Fremont Street worth the trip?

How it fits with the rest of your plans.

Fremont Street suits a short evening out of the Strip hotels if you want to see the Canopy and compare Downtown with the main corridor. It is less of a fit for a tight schedule. The transfer takes time, and the Deuce timetable is a frequency, not a travel time.

The Canopy and the street are free to see. A zipline ride is the main paid extra, and you decide whether it is worth the price for you. Our free things guide covers other no-cost stops, and the getting around guide explains the routes between the Strip and Downtown.
